There was a career high in store for Jamie Oliver this week as the celebrity chef served up a selection of organic treats for top politicians including US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
The Naked Chef created a special menu for a Downing Street dinner attended by visiting world leaders in the British capital to attend the G20 summit on Thursday. Showcasing the best of British seasonal produce, the dishes include fresh organic farmed salmon from Shetland served with sea kale and shoulder of lamb from the Elwy Valley in North Wales combined with the very earliest Jersey Royal potatoes.
Pudding is the classic British Bakewell Tart which Jamie and his team made on the day using home-made jams. There's also ginger shortbread from Grasmere in the Lake District.
"I'm very, very proud of my country and its food traditions," says the Essex-born chef, who will be helped in the kitchen by a team of graduates and apprentices from his London eatery Fifteen. "I know that the guests at Downing Street will be in for a real treat."
