If you were unaware, this week, 10-16th October 2011 marks a fairly significant event in the calendar of any sweet-toothed foodie.
It's National Chocolate Week and if that's not a good enough excuse to run out and buy as much chocolate as you can carry we aren't really sure what is!
There are plenty of chocolatey goings on - Chocolate Unwrapped is a 2 days event on the 15th and 16th of October in London's Vinopolis (handily located right by the vibrant foodie mecca of Borough Market) showcasing events and experiences from some of the UK's top chocolate producers. There'll be chocolate scupltures, a mini factory where you can get to know exactly how chocolate is made from bean to bar and get involved in some artwork by painting on a giant canvas with chocolate.
They're also running a Great Chocolate Cake Off to find the UK's best chocolate cake made by an amateur baker - head over to the site to get involved.
There are events happening up and down the country including tastings, workshops and demonstrations as well as a host of other exciting chocolatey goodies. So, time to get your chocoholic boots out and start shouting about delicious, unctuous, moreish, silky chocolate.
We've got plenty of delicious chocolate recipes in our archive like Gizzi Erskine's gorgeous earl grey chocolate cake, a fantastic four chocolate trifle from Paul A Young or Gregg Wallace's stunning rose-decorated white chocolate gateau
