Easter is, religion aside, a time of family and a time of eating together – and celebratory meals.
Whether it’s a light, fresh fish supper on Good Friday – maybe smoked trout flaked with shaved fennel, jersey royal potatoes and a crème fraiche based dressing flecked with fiery horseradish and aromatic dill with just a gentle squeeze of lemon – or your gorgeous Easter breakfast – soft boiled eggs and buttery, golden soldiers, flecks of freshly ground black pepper and a scrunge of sea salt flakes; or perhaps it’s the tiptop slow-roast shoulder of lamb you might be cooking for lunch – a Jannson’s temptation as your side-dish and some cavolo nero for a little brassica zip - Easter is, for many of us, about taking time to prepare delicious meals for friends and family.
But – let’s not forget the treats in between. When family come together it’s a great excuse to get baking and enjoy afternoon tea – and if it’s Easter what more of an excuse do you need to slip some chocolate into the indulgent proceedings…
