British favourites are on the menu for the special picnic to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on June 4.
Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal together with royal chef Mark Flanagan have designed the menu that will be served to as many as 15,000 guests in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.
Because of the sheer volume of attendees, the dishes, which include British classics such as coronation chicken and Scottish smoked salmon, will be served cold.
Heston recently triumphed with two of his restaurants, Dinner and The Fat Duck, in the top 10 of the world's 50 Best Restaurants.
Now you can enjoy a touch of his magic at home with a special dessert created especially for the lovely picnic.
This week Waitrose have revealed the Diamond Jubilee Strawberry Crumble Crunch, concocted by the triple Michelin-starred chef Heston and Mark, which is sure to be the crowning finish.
Diamond Jubilee Strawberry Crumble Crunch
Heston says, "I have designed this indulgent pudding especially for the Queen's Jubilee weekend, which coincides with the beginning of the British strawberry season. It makes me proud to be British!"
And if you, too, are cooking for big numbers, his cooking advice is as follows: "The quantities are for eight people but they can easily be doubled or tripled if you are planning a street party. The crumble, compote and cream can be made in advance but don’t assemble the puds until the last minute or the meringue and crumble will go soft."
