Marcus Wareing's New York-style bistro: cocktails and posh fast food in Seven Dials

One of Britain's greatest chefs of the moment, Marcus Wareing owns a two Michelin-starred restaurant, Marcus, formally known as Marcus at The Berkeley, as well as The Gilbert Scott at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. Last year he taught Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller how to cook for the upcoming American comedy drama film Adam Jones, and he showed off his expertise in the kitchen on MasterChef: The Professionals.

If his Michelin-starred and haute cuisine was beyond your budget before, you can now taste his delights at Tredwell's by Marcus Wareing, the West End eatery named after the butler in Agatha Christie's novel The Seven Dials Mystery.

It's already a hit with the capital's A listers – Tredwell's hosted an event during London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015, when models such as Jourdan Dunn stepped off the runway and into the Covent Garden restaurant. Beauty blogger Tanya Burr has also checked out the funky three-floor joint.

It's elegant, more casual than Michelin-starred settings and offers "accessible" eating. The menu features modern London cooking with a focus on British produce. Think starters including famous pork sliders, chorizo jam with charred bread and sticky glazed chicken wings and harissa-glazed aubergine, peanuts, coriander and chilli, to great British mains such as slow-cooked pork belly and cheek with fennel and juniper, roast corn fed chicken, leg croquette, rainbow chard, morels and thyme, and classic ribeye steak.

Some sweet finishes on offer are housemade salted caramel soft serve and on-trend gin and tonic cheesecake.

The posh fast-food style fare comes side-by-side with a tempting and original cocktail menu: kaffir-infused pisco and sage and pineapple-infused cachaça are just the beginning.

The best time to tuck into the cocktails? After work, or maybe during the Friday and Saturday night live Jazz performances that Tredwell's have been hosting recently. Although breakfast, which they have just begun serving, is also very tempting...
