As more people choose to go vegan or simply cut down on their meat and dairy intake, many high street restaurants have increased their offering of vegan food, with everything from dairy-free pizza to vegan Chinese meals now easily accessible. We've rounded up some of the best vegan options available at your favourite chain restaurants, including Nando's, Wagamama and Pizza Express.
Wagamama launched its first vegan menu in 2017, and it features a number of options that everyone will love. From a vegan Pad Thai to curries and noodles, the menu has proved hugely popular, and we can see why!
Pizza Express now offers a vegan and dairy-free mozzarella alternative that can be tried on the Vegan Giardiniera pizza or added to a pizza of your choice.
Nando's has two vegetarian options available that can easily be made vegan if you ask for them to be served without mayonnaise. One is the Sweet Potato & Butternut burger, made from sweet potato, butternut squash, red pepper, onion and edamame beans. The other is the Supergreen Burger, which combines broccoli, edamame beans and kale. Both are available as a burger or in a pitta.
Popular chain Pizza Hut started offering vegan cheese at restaurants nationwide from November. The restaurant's Pan Crust, All American Thin crust and Feel Good Flatbreads are all vegan, while dairy-free Violife cheese can be added to the pizza of your choice for an extra £1.
Vegans are spoilt for choice at Zizzi, with numerous vegan pizzas, including the Acrobaleno avocado pizza (pictured), which has an array of delicious ingredients including pink beetroot 'beetballs’, sun blushed tomatoes, chilli, purple basil and avocado. With other options such as vegan spaghetti Pomodoro and even a vegan dessert calzone, there's no need to feel like you're missing out. Better still, they're running a two for one offer on all vegan mains throughout January.
There are a number of new vegan and vegetarian options available at Fuller's Kitchen pubs, such as vegan chilli with basmati rice and fresh guacamole, or butternut squash, Swiss chard and chickpea curry.
You don't have to miss out on your favourite Chinese takeaway dishes when you give up meat and dairy! London-based Chinese restaurant Zing Zing has numerous vegan and vegetarian meals available, including cauliflower chow mein and stir fried vermicelli rice noodles, wok tossed with fresh vegetables and cauliflower.
