Although Valentine's Day is celebrated on 14 February, five-star hotel Jumeirah Carlton Tower believe that couples should be allowed to celebrate the romantic occasion throughout the entire month. The Knightsbridge-based hotel is running a luxury Valentine-themed afternoon tea until the end of February, offering a three-course menu with each treat sticking to the theme of love, right down to the homemade love heart shaped scones. Fittingly, the pink and red themed menu offers diners a glass of champagne rosé to wash down their meal with.

Having been lucky enough to try out the menu ourselves, we can recommend asking for a box at the end, as the selection of cakes is more than generous! We dined in style while listening to the hotel's resident harpist playing live music in the background, and enjoyed working our way through the expansive selection of sandwiches – a favourite being the brie and spinach on tomato bread, along with scones and sweet treats crafted by top pastry chef Lyece Major and renowned Executive Head Chef Simon Young.

Looking more than good enough to eat, our favourite was the chocolate praline heart, closely followed by a lychee, coconut and passion fruit rocher. To finish off the meal, we enjoyed a lemon meringue sorbet and free-flowing pots of tea. And If you are still enjoying your afternoon tea come 6pm like we were, make sure to hang around for the complimentary tipple of the day, which in our case was a gin and ginger cocktail.

Jumeirah Carlton Tower also offers regular afternoon teas throughout the year, and has plans to follow suit with a Mother's Day and Easter themed dining experience, all served up in the atmospheric Chinoiserie lounge. The hotel's Valentine Afternoon Tea experience costs £45 per person or £55 including a glass of champagne and will be available until Wednesday 28 February 2018.
