The renowned Knightsbridge eatery is a long-time firm favourite of the celebrities – it's said to be one of Simon Cowell's go-to for Chinese and has been attracting the glitterati since it opened its doors on Valentine's Day in 1968. The Beatles and Mick Jagger were among its first star guests. The cosy, beautiful restaurant, set over two storeys, serves a combination of original, authentic Beijing recipes together with new innovative dishes.

Green prawns, Ma Mignon and Mr Chow noodles are among its specialities, as are chicken satay and squab with lettuce. Beijing Duck and a variety of exciting vegetarian dishes are also on the menu. The model diners would have been treated to a nightly performance which sees one of the in-house chefs make original hand-pulled Beijing style noodles.
