Bleecker Burger, Bleecker StBleecker Burger founder Zan Kaufman tried the best burger she’d ever eaten in New York City in 2010 and a year later she moved to London, bought an old van that she converted into a food truck and started making and selling burgers. The van is named Bleecker St. after her favourite street in Manhattan but now you can find a permanent shop in Old Spitalfields Market. Burgers are made with rare-breed, pasture-fed beef from small farms in the UK, which is dry-aged for 40-50 days and served in a sesame seed bun, scratch burger sauce and American cheese.Cheeseburger £6

Honest Burgers, BrixtonHonest Burgers kicked off in 2010 when Tom and Phil bought a small marquee and began serving burgers at festivals – now there are nine branches dotted across London. Home-made furniture and decoration give the original Brixton branch a lovely bohemian feel. Pair that with tasty burgers made with 35-day dry-aged British chuck steak and hand-cut rosemary salted chips and you’ve got a winner.Beef Burger £8.50

Meat Liquor, MaryleboneAnother burger bar founded in the back of a van, Meat Liquor found permanent digs in 2011. Excellent burgers made with ground chuck steak are teamed with great toppings and – you guessed it – booze. Patty and Bun, James StreetAs the name suggests, burgers here come with a ‘patty’ and a rich brioche ‘bun’. Originally a pop-up, Patty and Bun now has three London locations and is so loved both for its juicy burgers and its home-made smoky mayonnaise and other relishes.
