Move over Christmas, the most wonderful day of the year has officially been moved to 24th August. Hundreds of restaurants across the UK are getting involved to celebrate National Burger Day, and here at HELLO! Online we've rounded up the best buns to get your hands on with the help of DesignMyNight. Grab a napkin, 'cause things are gonna get messy...

honest burgers

Honest Burgers – London

Honest Burgers have outdone themselves for this year's National Burger Day. Their meat and potatoes creation is here for one day, and one day only. This limited edition burger is made with juicy beef, topped with Red Leicester cheese, rosemary salted confit potato, mustard, beef and onion mayonnaise, and a pickle. It might sound like a bit of an odd combination – but it's tasty as hell.

meat and shake

Meat & Shake Tooting – London

Meat & Shake are no fools when it comes to knowing what makes the perfect burger. You can find this American-style smokehouse in Ealing, Watford and Tooting, giving you no excuse to miss out come National Burger Day. They have a whopping 15 burgers to choose from, but you should settle down with the rib 'n' cheese on the 24th. It's made with pulled beef rib topped with aioli, Monterey Jack cheese and lashings of BBQ sauce.

burger diner

The Diner - Camden, London

With not one, not two, but a choice of TEN burgers available, The Diner is a sure fire way to celebrate National Burger Day in style. Our favourites from the popular American-themed restaurant include the Juicy Lucy; a pulled pork patty which is filled with queso, served with slaw, tomato and BBQ sauce on a delicious brioche bun, and the Diablo, an incredible 8oz burger with bacon, cheese, pickles and burger sauce. Mmmm!

dirty bones

Dirty Bones – London

Get a taste for NYC without the hassle of hopping on a plane on the 24th August and visit Dirty Bones. This bold and broody spot has a lot to offer with its American-inspired bites: the mac daddy being of them. This meaty masterpiece is made with brisket and dry aged steak, which is then stacked with slow-cooked pulled beef short rib, gooey mac 'n' cheese and cayenne and coffee-spiked BBQ sauce. Think you've got what it takes to tackle the whole thing?

joes

Joe's Southern Table & Bar – London

Joe's Southern Table & Bar dish out Deep South flavours in the heart of Covent Garden, and they have loads of signature bites to grab your tummy's attention; but you need to direct your attention towards their BBQ beauty on the 24th. It's made with Southern fried chicken thigh, strips of crispy bacon, squirts of BBQ sauce, Monterey Jack cheese and fresh slaw.

bens canteen

Ben's Canteen – London

Ben's Canteen is a neighbourhood hangout in Clapham (but you can find it in Earlsfield too), and it has a trick or two up its sleeve. It's been named one of the best places for frosé in London and they've recently collaborated with craft beer experts BrewDog for a burger like no other. Consisting of not one, but two beef patties – which are layered with smoked cheese, crack fries, streaky bacon and Punk IPA BBQ sauce – you'll need a fistful of napkins to make your way through this bad boy.

bird

BIRD – London

BIRD have restaurants in Camden, Shoreditch, Islington and Stratford, and – just in case you've been hiding under a rock – it's famed as being the birthplace of the original waffle burger. Made with boneless chicken thigh, you'll find thick cut bacon, American cheese, house BBQ sauce, mayo, hot sauce and Canadian maple syrup sandwiched in between two fresh griddled waffles. Impressed? You should be. They serve a mean beet burger too if you're looking for a hearty vegetarian burger option.

revolution

Revolution – Brighton

Revolution in Brighton might be known far and wide for their killer cocktails, but they also know a thing or two when it comes to whipping up a gourmet burger. If you're after something a little different on the 24th, we recommend the Smokin' Bacon. It's a beef patty topped with smoked cheddar, streaky bacon, lashings of chorizo ketchup and homemade smokinnaise. It's then finished with crispy onions and handful of wotsits.

dog bowl

Dog Bowl – Manchester

Bowling and burgers? Dog Bowl is an absolute must visit on the 24th. Once you're done showing off by throwing a strike or two, order the lane closer. This legendary stack is made with two beef patties, heaps of American cheese, pulled pork, tater tots and burger sauce. It's also garnished with a mini beef burger – just for the hell of it.

bread meets bread

Bread Meats Bread – Glasgow

There are certain days when calories don't count, and the 24th is definitely one of them. If you're celebrating National Burger Day in Glasgow, there's no better place than Bread Meats Bread. Masters at serving up drool–worthy sliders, their extensive menu will leave you spoilt for choice. We suggest trying the luther though; it contains a double smashed patty, tonnes of American cheese, candied bacon, crispy fried onions and spicy beef mayo, all inside two grilled glazed doughnut rings.

buffalo and rye

Buffalo and Rye – Birmingham

If you want mouth–watering burgers and rustic American diner vibes on the 24th, Buffalo and Rye in Birmingham will cater to all your needs. With a passion for smokey flavours and local ingredients, they're known for serving some of the tastiest burgers in the Midlands. Loaded with lip–licking buttermilk chicken, American cheese, lettuce, slices of tomato, all topped with lemon and garlic mayo – their buttermilk burger is pretty goddamned special. Head down for National Burger Day, and you'll get a free side to go with your burger.
