Your Christmas party starts here! The festive season isn't complete without a glass of fizz or two, and now you'll be able to keep the celebrations going even longer as Aldi is launching a new jeroboam of prosecco just in time for Christmas.

STORY: The surprising way you could be ruining the taste of your champagne and prosecco

The huge three-litre bottle is the equivalent size of four bottles or 24 glasses of prosecco, so will be ideal for serving at big Christmas dinners and parties – if not a little heavy! And at £39.99 a bottle, it's significantly cheaper than its rivals; a jeroboam at Marks and Spencer costs £50, while similar bottles also sell for £99.99 online.

Aldi's 11 per cent ABV prosecco comes from Veneto in Italy and is said to have sweet, delicate and dry tasting notes. It is set to launch in stores and online on 14 November and is sure to prove popular in the lead up to Christmas among a nation of prosecco lovers.

Brits are the biggest fans of prosecco in the world, and a recent report from The Consortium for the Protection of Prosecco revealed that out of the 410.9 million bottles of prosecco produced in 2016, one third came straight to the UK – equating to roughly 135,597,000 bottles!

The drink will be on sale ahead of the Christmas party season

Aldi's drinks range is proving increasingly popular, with the supermarket winning the drinks retailer of the year award in the 2017 Drinks Business Awards. While wine sales have grown by 15 per cent this year, their spirits are also proving popular; the Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin, which costs just £10, recently won a gold medal at the 2017 International Wine and Spirits Competition in the London Dry category. Aldi was the only supermarket to win a gold medal for its gin, along with a further 19 awards including a gold medal for its Specially Selected Crème de Cassis, which costs £6.99.
