Fashion watchers were expecting her to glide down the aisle in a couture Chanel creation or a gorgeous Gucci gown. But Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, who has acted as ambassador for both houses, chose Marchesa to wed her movie star beau Ryan Reynolds.

Design duo Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, who were no doubt delighted to create a bridal gown for the A-lister, revealed that it featured a hand-draped silk tulle bodice adorned with custom crystal and rose gold embroidery. And Blake is thought to have teamed the couture creation with a pair of Christian Louboutins. Her bridesmaids wore blush silk chiffon gowns with crystal detailing by the same label. Although photos haven't yet been released, the 5ft 9in blonde is sure to have looked stunning on the day that she became Mrs Reynolds. The couple said "I do" in a heartfelt ceremony in a rustic barn in South Carolina. Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, who were enlisted to help plan the event, revealed some of the details from the “intimate, personalized party” on their website.

They revealed that Ryan and Blake gathered "their immediate and extended family at a rustic barn in South Carolina." More specifically, it was held at the Boone Hall Plantation Charleston, which famously appeared in the Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling's romantic 2004 movie, The Notebook. "From the heartfelt ceremony to the fun-filled carnival hour and elegant reception, it was a truly enchanting celebration," added the publication. The couple, who have been in a relationship for a year, had managed to keep both their engagement and wedding a secret. The magazine say they will print the photos of the nuptials in their December issue.
