Ever the style queen, Victoria Beckham was the epitome of effortless chic on Tuesday night as the Spice Girls were reunited to attend the opening night of stage musical Viva Forever in London. The fashion designer was tapping into the androgyny trend, sporting masculine, monochrome tailoring as she arrived at the event with her brood of boys and husband David Beckham, before later posing on stage with her fellow bandmates.
The 37-year-old had chosen a burgundy overcoat worn off the shoulders from her own label Victoria Beckham to brave the chilly London weather, before changing into a black tux jacket to take to the stage. She paired her outerwear with black Isabel Marant trousers, a loose white shirt, pointy black patent pumps and a dishevelled updo that showed off her super stylish outfit to perfection. Her bandmates, meanwhile, had opted for more feminine looks, looking stunning in a dazzling display of sequins and lace. Emma Bunton's platinum blonde locks were expertly offset by a floor-sweeping, cobalt blue lace dress that had been customised by Michael Hunt. Geri Halliwell was also showing off a blue ensemble, going for maximum impact in a fairytale maxifrock. With a tight, strapless bodice and tiered layering adorning a full skirt, the effect was almost bridal-esque.
Melanie Brown, meanwhile, opted for a floor-length, figure-hugging, black sequin number that ensured she sparkled under the blaze of the flashbulbs. And Melanie Chisholm kept it short in a khaki minidress that featured intricate beading on the waist and neckline. The ladies were joined at the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End by Jennifer Saunders, who wrote the show based on the songs of The Spice Girls, and Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer. Victoria kept the audience waiting after arriving late to the premiere because she was reported to be stuck in traffic. Once there, she posed with David and her three sons, Brooklyn,13, Romeo, ten, and Cruz, seven. The couple left their 16-month-old daughter Harper Seven at home. The other girls also brought their children to the event. Geri took her six-year-old daughter Bluebell, mother-of-two Emma was joined by her eldest son Beau, six, and Melanie Brown was accompanied by her two eldest daughters Phoenix and Angel. Victoria sat with her family once inside, whilst the other four girls sat together and snapped pictures on their mobile phones, giggling and hugging.
Friends and family were there to support the ladies, including Emma's TV presenter friend Keith Lemon, Holly Willoughby and Joan Collins. Once the function was over, the five singers took to the stage hand-in-hand and each said a few words about the musical. Melanie Chisholm was the first to address the crowd: "There are so many people to thank, thank you all for being here but the people I'd like to thank is the wonderful cast." Emma was next, paying tribute to the writer: "I'd like to say thank you to Jennifer Saunders." Victoria also joined her former band mate in the tribute before thanking her loved ones for their support. "Thank you to my family for being here, I love you all." Later on, the designer thanked Simon Fuller - the manager that helped them steer through their early years of fame: "Great time with my girls tonight! Thank you Simon Fuller,we couldn't have done this without you!!! x Vb" Geri was the last of the girls to speak: "There is one woman we have to thank and she is a true woman of girl power, Judy Craymer. We love you Judy. Thank you for making the Spice Girls dream come true!"
