HELLO! Fashion Monthly speaks exclusively to one of the most in-demand DJs on the international party circuit, Whinnie Williams, for its October issue, out Tuesday 1st September.

Billing herself as "part Del Boy, part Brigitte Bardot and part Patsy in Ab Fab”, Whinnie talks to the new UK fashion glossy about writing her own music, the high-maintenance demands of her DJing comrade-in-arms, Zara Martin, and reveals all about the time they DJ’d with Mark Ronson...ending in them getting a lift on his private jet.

"It was mental. They asked us to DJ for an hour before Mark went on, then, because the party was going nuts, they wanted us to go on again. But we were so drunk. There were bouquets of flowers everywhere and I was just ripping the petals off and throwing them at the crowd. In my mind, people were loving it! But I was really drunk so maybe they hated it. It was just the weirdest thing I’ve ever done, then we got a lift home in Mark’s private jet."

The songbird, whose single Too Strong comes out this month, also admits that she was once so shy she turned to a hypnotist (it worked!), that she doesn’t like vintage, and that she rents her house out as a retro location property.

With her trademark Bardot-esque style, Whinnie models a mix of high-end and high-street labels for her stunning cover shoot, "I don’t like vintage clothes. Everyone’s like, ‘Winnie Williams loves vintage’. But, ooh no! Everything in my house is second hand and I love that it’s all got a story. But in a lot of vintage clothes shops there’s plenty of stuff no-one else wants… and it really smells too! If I had loads of money I’d just constantly wear Miu Miu and Chanel. The dream is to have a Chanel suit and live in it. Forever!"

On the cover, Whinnie wears a velvet jacket and trousers by The Fold (£275 and £175 respectively, thefoldlondon, com) and shirt by Kate Spade (£335, katespade.co.uk).

The full interview appears in the October issue of HELLO! Fashion Monthly – on sale 1st September.
