Alessandra Ambrosio invited herself to walk in Julien Macdonald's recent London Fashion Week show. The Welsh designer showed as part of the biannual event on Monday night, with Brazilian beauty Alessandra joined by other big models including Martha Hunt and Winnie Harlow.

As a longtime fan of Julien, Alessandra took matters into her own hands to ensure she got to meet the fashion star for the first time.

"I love wearing Julien's designs on the red carpet. I'm the face of CIROC (vodka) and they asked me if I would like to watch the show, so I was like, 'No, I want to be in the show!' and so it all came together," she laughed to Grazia, referring to the vodka brand that served cocktails backstage.

Julien Macdonald dares to bare with stunning spring/summer 18 presentation

"Every dress that he makes is amazing, but this (finale) one was made especially for me – I love it! It's a little different to what Julien usually does, this bold shade of blue, but it was love at first sight. The minute you put his clothes on, it's all about being strong, confident, sexy and having attitude."

Even after years in the business, Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra admits she sometimes gets a little nervous before walking the runway, with butterflies kicking in, but once she gets going it's "all about the music, the lights, having fun".

Julien's presentation was a big hit with fans and critics, and he was praised for not using fur, like he has done in past collections.

"As a young designer I did use a lot of fur and do you know what, I think you should perhaps try not to," he told Reuters.

"You know what? It was my mistake. I was young. I am sorry. I apologise... You do not need to kill animals to wear nice clothes."
