TV star, radio DJ, presenter and model - is there anything Maya Jama can’t do? Nope! The 23-year-old is adding another string to her bow - fashion designer. Watch out Victoria Beckham because this London-based lady has teamed up with PrettyLittleThing to design an 80-piece collection, which takes inspiration from stylish streetwear-inspired pieces, pop culture and supermodels on the catwalk. Talking about the collab, Maya said: “I’m SO excited about working with PLT on my very first design collaboration. PLT has been one of my go-to brands and I’ve loved watching the brand grow over the years. I know my audience love PrettyLittleThing as much as I do, so I hope that they will be as excited for this collection as I am.”
The BBC Radio 1 presenter - who has been dating Stormzy since 2016 - posted the sneak peek of the collection on Instagram, captioning the shot: “THE SECRET IS OUT! I have been working on my first ever clothing collaboration with the AMAZING @prettylittlething. I still can’t believe it’s actually happening - not stopped pinching myself since and I am so happy to be able to create a collection that not only reflects my style but looks bloody banging on everyone!”
In the first campaign image you can see Maya wearing a bright orange ensemble which consists of a crop top, skirt, jacket and sunglasses. It’s a statement look, and wallflowers needn’t apply. We’re told the collection includes a mix of sporty separates and bold animal brights reworked onto striking co-ord sets and dungaree dresses.
With a tonal colour pallet of mustard, baby blues and blush, you’ll also get electric limes, zingy oranges and bold bright colour blocking. We can't wait.
