It may have once been more closely associated with grandmothers and pot pouri, but now lilac has emerged as one of THE colours of the season with the likes of Victoria Beckham helping give the pastel shade a chic makeover. And Kate Garraway proved the high street can nail the trend too when she stepped out to present Good Morning Britain wearing a gorgeous fitted lilac dress from Marks and Spencer. The frock features long sleeves, a gathered cowl-like neck, belted waist and symmetric hem, and its slim fit perfectly complimented Kate's toned figure.

Kate's dress was a hit was GMB viewers

She teamed the dress with an eye catching pair of heeled court shoes in a zingy coral shade, and her trademark honey blonde bob was blow-dried to glossy perfection. Her makeup was kept fresh and natural.

The look, which was posted to Instagram by the show's head of wardrobe Debbie Harper, went down a hit with GMB fans. One wrote "Looking lovely this morning" and another added "@kategarraway is such a complete goddess".

Debbie, who shares the looks she creates on her account @debbiedresses, is known for her bold, playful high street style, and has an eye for hunting down eye-catching yet fairly-priced dresses. She also styles Kate’s colleagues Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins, but Kate has revealed that she's the one Debbie likes to experiment on. The 51-year-old previously told HELLO!" "She does know I'm the bravest, because she'll offer [unusual outfits] to the others and they'll be like 'Oh, no' and she'll go 'Let's try Kate, she's up for everything.'"

She added: "She sorts out our clothes for the show, and she makes sure we're not all wearing the same colour, she makes sure we're all coordinated otherwise it could be a pretty hideous clash to wake up to. But we choose, we're not forced to wear something we don't want to wear."
