For some years now London Fashion Week has had to settle for poorer cousin status when compared to the higher-profile extravaganzas hosted by Paris and Milan. The British capital's style event seemed to be enjoying something of a renaissance this year, however, with members of the jetset dropping in to check out the latest collections on display.

Monegasque royal Charlotte Casiraghi turned more than a few heads when she arrived at the Royal Academy of Arts to take in one of the shows. The 20-year-old beauty is no stranger to the glitzy catwalk events of the French capital, but her decision to cross the English Channel for London Fashion Week came as quite a boost to organisers.

Charlotte's presence isn't the only thing putting a smile on the face of British fashionistas. While the annual celebration is usually associated with alternative, cutting-edge designs, Danish label Noir added a glamorous note to this year's proceedings by sending Lily Cole and Erin O'Connor, two of the fashion industry's biggest names, down the runway in red carpet-ready styles.

There was still plenty of rising talent on display, however, including the latest looks from Christopher Kane, Toddy Lynn and Duro Olowo. And with international heavyweights such as US designer Marc Jacobs also in attendance it is perhaps small wonder that fashion bible Vogue declared the event "back on a fashion high it hasn't seen in a decade".

The beautiful 20-year-old, pictured arriving at the Royal Academy of Arts, was just one of the famous faces helping make this year's London Fashion Week something of a renaissance event.
