Donatella presents new Versace fragrance in London

28 MARCH 2007

Donatella Versace brought some fragrant news to fans of her Italian fashion label when she jetted into London this week to present the famous marque's latest offering - its first eponymously titled perfume.

Although the fashion house began producing scent in the Eighties, the new essence is the first to bear the Versace name. Based around a floral heart, it is also a departure from the heady perfumes of the past, featuring top notes of guava, blackcurrent, white lilacs, lotus flowers and musk.

Speaking at the Harrods launch on Tuesday, Donatella explained she had wanted to create a "timeless scent, to be worn at any time of the day".

The new perfume, which will hit shelves Stateside next month, is to be followed by a men's counterpart next year.
