The moment Kate Moss followers have been waiting for has nearly arrived, as the first images of the supermodel's fashion range are released. Fans will be able to snap up a piece of her edgy style for as little as £12 when the designs go on sale at High Street chain Topshop on May 1.
"With this collection I can do what I have always wanted to do with clothes," says the Croydon-born beauty. "You know, you find a dress, but you want it shorter, or tighter, or sexier… I have been a model for so long that I know when something does or doesn't look right," she told Vogue, which placed on the cover of the May issue in one of her £60, self-designed dresses.
Kate, who was inspired by the vintage pieces from her own wardrobe, says the range is made up of "stuff I wear all the time". Items include signature skinny jeans and ribbed vests, funky waistcoats and little shorts. "She's a fashion icon," says Topshop boss Philip Green, "so whatever she did with us had to be true to her, it couldn't just be her name."
The mum-of-one personally tried and tested each garment before it went into production and helped model the clothes alongside catwalk star Irina Lazareanu - former drummer with Babyshambles, Kate's boyfriend's band. Such is the interest in anything Kate puts her hand to, the range is also to go on sale at upmarket department store Barneys in New York from May 8.
