Oscar del La Renta rings changes with texture in pre-autumn line

9 DECEMBER 2008
Floral prints in vibrant hues dominate the pre-fall 2009 collection from Oscar de la Renta, which showed in New York this week.

Models took to the runway in dresses designed to flatter the female form through elegant, cinched-in waists and wearing belts to give an hourglass silhouette.

The trend for texture, which has featured so strongly on runways this year, was also much in evidence for 2009 in the Dominican Republic-born designer's collection, with wool and lace used alongside leather. Taking the impetus one step further were a patchwork-style feather dress and several tweed and leather combos.

One especial highlight from the new line, which was presented at the Oscar de la Renta showroom on Park Avenue, was a full-skirted green floral coat with wide, studded belt, collar and cuffs.
