Matthew Williamson and Badgley Mischka show to-die-for party wear

Video coverage from the New York catwalks Trust Matthew Williamson to offer the kind of evening wear that will have fashionistas flocking into the stores next autumn.

At New York Fashion Week the British maestro showcased a folk art-meets-modernist range emblazoned with graphic prints. Dresses came in two lengths - down to the ankles or just past the derriere; either length would make Sienna Miller, one of his favourite muses, look achingly cool as she floated into a soiree.

He also courted his boho followers with madcap accessories including lavish stoles dyed turquoise, ankle boots shaped like fins and skyscraper stilettos decorated with zebra print.

Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria, front row in one of his shimmering coats, was visibly delighted with the collection.

Badgley Mischka's designs will get wearers noticed, too, but for their understated glamour. The American duo kept their signature embellishment and beading to a minimum, instead drawing their 'wow' factor from a molten gold and royal blue palette and sensuous draping, which had silk fabric cascading over every curve.

Narciso Rodriguez was showcasing an urban warrior aesthetic. His presentation – which was applauded enthusiastically by actress Claire Danes and rapper Kanye West - featured camouflage-patterned coats, dresses with exposed zips, and studded belts that looked like they were designed to hold bullets.

Diesel Black Gold also embraced the metropolitan trend, though theirs was a distressed version. Models with net-covered tousled bedhead hair showed off battered jeans and leggings paired with tie-dye chemises and braces.
