In a departure from her usual ethereal, dreamy designs, celeb and royalty favourite Jenny Packham gave her garments a tougher edge for Autumn/Winter. Something she candidly admitted backstage is “because we are dressing Angelina Jolie now”. And the red-carpet friendly frocks unveiled in New York were ideal for that, with one full-length black gown featuring beaded shoulders just right for the bewitching star.
To create the look, Jenny took inspiration from the strong personalities of Film Noir’s leading ladies. The Forties came to life via molten silver, lavish silk crepe and gun-metal studs. As smoke wafted through the room, models dressed in intricately-embellished gowns strutted along the runway to dubstep beats.
Despite the change in direction, Jenny doesn't appear to have forgetten another of her famous customers – the
Duchess of Cambridge, who is a
devotée of the label. Gowns in pastel hues, with structured shoulders and nipped-in silhouettes were surely fit for Britain's glossiest brunette.
