Princess Letizia, Princess Marie and the Duchess of Cambridge: Gallery of the week's best royal style

In the week that saw King Juan Carlos of Spain announce his abdication, the country's future queen Princess Letizia showcased her elegant sense of style.

The 41-year-old chose a bright floral dress and a coral blazer for her appearance at the Principe de Viana awards and a chic white blouse teamed with a navy and white skirt when she and Prince Felipe attended the European Environment to Enterprise Awards.

Elsewhere Princess Marie of Denmark wore a one-shouldered black dress for Prince Henrik's gala concert and Queen Maxima dazzled in a vibrant green gown accessorised with a glittering tiara for Prince Albert of Monaco's official visit to the Netherlands.
