Prada hires iconic Hollywood cast for menswear campaign

Prada designer and owner Miuccia Prada has once again merged the worlds of fashion and acting, assembling an all-star Hollywood cast to model the Italian fashion house's new spring/summer collection. The famous gentlemen to have been chosen as the faces of the menswear campaign are iconic actors Harvey Keitel, who is best known for his roles in Martin Scorsese films, and Puerto Rican star Benicio Del Toro.

Two younger faces are also included in the line-up – Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who starred alongside Keira Knightley in Anna Karenina and Dane DeHaan, who will feature in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. ''Four leading men – two of them iconic stars and two trailblazing new talents – bring their individual sense of style to the spring/summer 2013 menswear campaign," a spokesperson for Prada said of the collaboration. Shot in London by David Sims, the series of stylish black and white images show the handsome men striking their best poses as they model the brand's latest wares. And Prada revealed that a great deal of effort had gone in to choosing each of their ensembles for the shoot.

''With a stark minimalism, heightening attention to detail, the perfection of the collection is infused with each of the actors' strong attitudes. Their laidback and playful insouciance mixed with the quiet intensity of the tailoring is a silent revolution in men's styling.'' They added: ''A painterly use of shadow and brightness creates striking silhouettes, the actors at times almost engulfed by darkness, then completely framed in blinding light. In a world filled with white noise, the effect is both modern and timeless.'' Prada's last campaign, for autumn/winter 2012 earlier this year, had a similar premise. It featured A-list actors including Gary Oldman, Willem Dafoe and upcoming stars Jamie Bell and Garrett Hedlund.

And at the label's menswear show in Milan, Miuccia enlisted the help of Gary, Adrien Brody and Jamie to walk the catwalk showing off the new designs.

In other news, creative director of Givenchy Riccardo Tisci has just hired some of his friends for the label's spring/summer 2013 campaign. And supermodel Kate Moss is one of the faces chosen for the role, alongside Italian models Mariacarla Boscono and Francisco Peralta, artists Marina Abramovic and Jared Buckhiester and bullfight Jose Maria Manzanares. Talking to WWD, Riccardo said: "They are people I love and who love me. It's about family – something that is difficult to find in today's world. It's about real people, only taking the best of their personalities, with no effort."
