Putting other beautiful attendees in the shade as she lit up the red carpet in a glittering gold gown by Oscar de la Renta, Anne Hathaway well and truly triumphed in the styles stakes at the Critics' Choice Awards on Thursday night. The star – who also came out on top at the ceremony, picking up Best Supporting Actress gong – looked incredible in the vintage-inspired, floor-sweeping number that showed off her sexy side with its scooped-back and shoulder-baring spaghetti straps. She chose a purple lip to vamp up the look, sweeping her cropped hair to one side.

Some of her fellow A-listers, meanwhile, had opted for more classic colours. Jennifer Lawrence wowed onlookers with her black Prabal Gurung gown that had a rock 'n' roll touch with leather cut outs and hardware belt. She paired the edgy number with Jimmy Choo heels, Chopard jewellery and a Roger Vivier bag. The actress also enjoyed great success at the ceremony, winning Best Actress in two separate categories for two different roles – scooping Best Actress in an Action Movie for The Hunger Games and Best Actress in a Comedy for Silver Linings Playbook. Naomi Watts had also opted for black, turning heads in an Emilio Pucci, floor-sweeping creation that featured a plunging sheer neckline. Accompanied by her partner Liev Schrieber, who looked handsome in his formal attire, The Impossible star Naomi gave her gown some old Hollywood glamour with side-swept blonde locks.

Meanwhile, fashionistas Elle Fanning and Marion Cotillard went for flower power in floral designs. Actress Elle, who looked far older than her 14 years, wore head-to-toe Chanel for the event, where she's up for Best Young Actress for her role in Ginger and Rosa. She headed up the more unusual designs with the knitted, floor-length white number that was embroidered with pretty flowers. A chunky pair of heels finished off her quirky look. And Marion Cotillard looked beautiful in her black Zuhair Murad frock that was adorned with multi-coloured floral patterns. A pair of open-toed, nude caged heels perfectly complemented the loud dress. Other stars to dazzle on the red carpet included British beauty Emily Blunt, who showed off her slimline figure in a tight white Miu Miu number, Amy Adams in a daring creation, and Jessica Chastain, whose famous flame-coloured hair was offset with an empire line crimson, jewelled dress.
