English roses Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevingne and Lily Donaldson helped kick-start New York Fashion Week in style on Wednesday night as they attended the amfAR gala.While the other guests at the event decided to go for all out glamour in long gowns, Alexa, 29, was the epitome of laidback chic in a black knee-length Chanel Spring 2013 polka dot dress and monochrome shoes.The TV presenter was joined by friend Poppy Delevigne, who was simply dazzling in a long sparkling silver pleated number that featured sheer sleeves and embellished cuffs. The 26-year-old model completed her stunning look with matching shoes and a clutch.

Poppy is in town to enjoy a number of fashion shows this week, and also to support her sister Cara Delevingne, who is due to strut down several catwalks in the coming days.Cara has already modelled for the biggest names in fashion, including Burberry and most recently, the Chanel couture show in January. And this week, it was announced that she had followed in the footsteps of Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller as the face of Pepe Jeans.Another British beauty taking New York by storm is Lily Donaldson. The 25-year-old showed off her honed and toned physique in a long black dress with a leatehr bustier.The ladies joined a guestlist of celebrities and models, including, Sarah Jessica Parker, Doutzen Kroes and Anne Vyalitsyna.The gala honoured Janet Jackson, designer Kenneth Cole and Heidi Klum for their exceptional contributions to the fight against AIDS.

German model Heidi stunned at the event in a Michael Kors fall 2012 backless halter dress.

The blonde beauty styled her look with Christian Louboutin heels, a matching clutch and Lorraine Schwartz black beaded jewels. And she took to Twitter to post about the event that she attended with fashion designer Michael Kors, saying: "Celebrating all the amazing work @amfAR does with my date @michaelkors!"
