Peter Copping unveiled his first collection for Oscar de la Renta
Karlie Kloss, who has previously modelled for Oscar de la Renta and shared selfies with the designer, sat on the front row with best friend Taylor Swift for the presentation, while models including Kendall Jenner stepped out on the catwalk in Peter's new designs which saw shades of navy blue, black and maroon, with hints of Oscar's beloved floral embellishment and patterns.
"I brought in more short dresses and new fabrications – a modern, light duchess satin, for instance, where before it would have been taffeta," he told the Guardian. "I wanted to be respectful to Oscar's legacy, and at the same time fashion moves quickly, so you have to state your intentions straight away."
From belted cream ensembles to embellished jackets teamed with skirts, fans were quick to share their delight at Peter's first collection.
Oscar himself had approved Peter as his successor before his tragic death, with the intention of the two working side-by-side for a while. Sadly Oscar's passing meant that Peter worked alone, but he revealed that he had felt a connection with the designer.
"Unfortunately I only met Oscar on a number of occasions," he said in an interview. "But I think we immediately struck it up."
It seems that Peter has done the fashion house proud, as they shared a photo on the brand's Instagram account with two of the dresses, captioned simply, 'bravo Peter. @petercopping'.
