Out now: The new issue of HELLO! Fashion Monthly

HELLO! Fashion Monthly is back with a brand new issue!

We’re all crushing on David Beckham at HFM HQ this month – but no one more so than our Beauty Director Charlotte Jolly. Charlotte was lucky enough to join the style icon and footballing legend for lunch on the pretext of discussing his new fragrance...

He didn’t disappoint. Relaxed and chatty, David opened up about his favourite fashion labels, facial hair (he’s sticking with the beard for now) and his losing battle to look cool in the eyes of his teenage son Brooklyn.

But what really struck us was his take on modern manners. The most important advice he’d ever been given, he revealed, was from his parents and grandparents, who taught him to be “polite and a gentleman”. It was the one thing he’d endeavoured to pass on to his three sons. A sartorial god and a gentleman.

Another style-setter is Whitney Port, formerly of US reality TV shows The Hills and The City and now a fully-fledged fashion designer, who was one of the best-dressed FROW fixtures during the recent London Fashion Week. When we caught up with her at our cover shoot a few days later, she couldn’t have been sweeter or more accommodating.

She’s also more than just a pretty face. In our interview, she makes it clear she’s got plenty to say – contrary to how she was sometimes portrayed on screen.

So far, Whitney has resisted following her celebrity peers and going for the chop – or, more accurately, lob.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has done it; Scarlett Johansson was an early exponent, and Jessica Alba unveiled her choppy bob just last month.

We’re told the new shorter hairstyle is a sign of economic recovery – and in the spirit of new shoots or, perhaps, roots, I’ve taken the plunge, too. Let’s hope the trend lasts!
