I'm writing this from the balcony of the Hotel Martinez in Cannes... While trying not to be too distracted by the buzz of activity on the Promenade de la Croisette below, or blinded by the super yachts shining in the sunlight on a sea almost too blue to be real.
There’s nowhere more magical than Cannes during the annual film festival when the movie world’s most glamorous come out to play.
This year, there was no let up on the roll call of A-listers jetting into town, from Cate Blanchett and Sienna Miller to a slew of supermodels including Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls and Irina Shayk.
It’s no wonder the festival has become one of the most important dates on the celebrity calendar – easily on a par with the Oscars – with fashion designers and high-end jewellery brands unofficially competing to display their showstopping looks.
As Antonio Banderas told me at the de Grisogono party, one of the most sought-after tickets of the fortnight, there are two sides to Cannes – the intellectual (he’d just been to a screening of Sicario with his beautiful girlfriend Nicole Kimpel) and the glamorous, and both seem to co-exist quite comfortably. We've rounded up the best parties.
The glamour doesn’t stop there – we've got interviews with models-of-the-moment Kate King, Dolce & Gabbana's gorgeous muse and Brazilian bombshell Isabeli Fontana, taking over Gisele's catwalk crown.
We also get to know the super-talented and refreshingly down-to-earth Renee Stewart, an aspiring dancer whose parents just happen to be Rod Stewart and Rachel Hunter.
The HFM team could only watch in awe as she treated us to some impromptu leaps and twirls during our cover photoshoot!
