7 times Duchess Meghan channeled Princess Diana

The two are style peas in a pod

The Duchess of Sussex looked stunning when she attended a charity performance of the hit musical Hamilton at London's Victoria Palace Theatre to raise money for the HIV charity Sentebale, co-founded by Prince Harry. Looking well-rested after her time away from the spotlight, Meghan was radiant in a black tuxedo mini dress by Canadian designer Judith & Charles.

As usual, all eyes were on Meghan's stylish outfit, which appeared to have paid tribute to Harry's late mum, Princess Diana. Back in 1996, while attending homeless charity Centrepoint's Christmas campaign, Diana rocked a navy pinestriped tuxedo by Catherine Walker, which looked strikingly similar to Meghan's dress, from the cut right down to the daring above-the-knee length.

And glancing at some of Meghan’s key looks over the years, this isn't the first time she's paid tribute to her husband's mother. Here are six more times Meghan has channelled Diana...

in June when Meghan stepped out in Lincolnshire to attend the wedding of Prince Harry's cousin and Princess Diana's niece, Celia McCorquodale, she wore a floor-length maxi dress by Oscar de la Renta adorned with a pretty blue floral print, and featuring long billowing sleeves and a wrap front. The outfit was accessorised with a complementing white clutch and fascinator. And while some royal watchers complained that the dress was too big for her petite frame, other eagle-eyed onlookers spotted that it bore more than a passing resemblance to a dress worn by Diana back in 1986, during a visit to Saudi Arabia. Diana's version was cut in a tunic style, and she teamed it with a pair of slim-fitting white trousers during the official engagement.

When Meghan visited Edinburgh with Harry in February she wore a navy and bottle green tartan Burberry coat. The print referenced an outfit worn by Diana at the Highland Games back in 1988.

In December 2017 Meghan looked super stylish in a long navy coat during a visit to the Terrence Higgins Trust as part of an official engagement in Nottingham with Harry. The style was very similar to once worn by Princess Diana in Devonport when she went to wave off soldiers on their way to the Gulf war.

While Meghan was still starring in Suits back in 2016, she appeared on the Today show wearing this gorgeous red off-the-shoulder dress with nipped in waist and full skirt. It's remarkably similar to a beautiful evening gown Princess Diana wore during a trip to Washington DC in 1990.

It looks like Meghan has been taking style cues from Diana even before she met Harry! Back in 2014 she attended Elton John's AIDs foundation’s 13th Annual Enduring Vision benefit wearing this stunning floor length high-necked teal gown. Diana also wore a similar maxi dress – albeit with a different neckline – to the Haunted premiere in October 1995.

This minidress with lace overlay that Meghan wore to USA Network's and The Moth's Storytelling Tour, A More Perfect Union: Stories of Prejudice and Power, is a more playful look than we're used to seeing on the now-Duchess. But again, it looks very similar to one worn by Diana – this time, at a performance of La Boheme at the Royal Albert Hall in 1996.
