The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, will no doubt be making last-minute preparations as she and Prince William prepare to welcome their second child next month. Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge are expected to welcome their second child next month

The stylish 33-year-old is said to have stopped by Trotters on Kings Road in Chelsea, London, to buy a new pair of shoes for adorable Prince George, choosing a pair of Start-Rite Flexy-Soft Milan navy blue leather sneakers. The mother-of-one was also said to have headed to high street giant Zara over the weekend where she was taken by the brand's 'mini' collection for newborns, choosing a pair of white leather and beige suede booties. Royal fans who were hoping Duchess Kate's purchases would give some clue as to the gender of the baby will have to wait a while longer however, as the pair of neutral coloured shoes appear to be unisex.

The Duchess wowed in a £35 ASOS dress at a recent official appearance

Kate has made sure she spends some quality time with little George ahead of his sibling's arrival. The two made a private trip to London's Science Museum last Thursday, where they mainly visited the museum's Pattern Pod. Speaking to People magazine, a source who works at the museum said that Kate and George "seemed to enjoy themselves" with the duo spending a few hours at the museum joined only by personal protection officers. Kate has also been making her final few official appearances before she goes on maternity leave, showcasing her impeccable maternity style. Renowned for often recycling her favourite outfits and shopping the high street for her elegant ensembles, the chic royal turned heads during a visit to Brookhill Children's Centre when she wore a £35 polka dot dress by retailer ASOS. The 'Kate Effect' immediately struck again, as within just minutes of the dress being identified, it had completed sold out in all sizes. It's not the first time the striking brunette has worn ASOS – back in 2013, when she was pregnant with Prince George, she was spotted dressing her baby bump in a £17.50 dress from the online shop.
