It's not the first time that the cast have dropped hints that Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda may be back. Jennifer Hudson, who starred in the first Sex and the City movie, sparked speculation that another instalment was on its way last year.

"I think it might be happening," she told Dish Nation. "Somebody just came to me talking about that. So if it's in talks, it might happen. So look for it!"

Meanwhile, the original HBO series' creator Michael Patrick King also fuelled rumours in February when he revealed he had ideas for more storylines.

"Sarah Jessica and I both know what the final chapter is," he told Entertainment Weekly. "That doesn't mean it will or should be told, but I do think there's one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation.

"But there's four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven't even been written yet."

Although there has yet to be official confirmation that the third film is in the pipeline, Sarah Jessica's latest Instagram snap has been considered by many fans as a sneak peek at what's in store for Carrie Bradshaw.
