Kate Winslet is known for her positive take on body image, pubicly shunning airbrushing and embracing her womanly physique. But the Oscar-winning actress has revealed that this attitude is something she has had to learn over the years. "That's very damaging, because then you're programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinise yourself and how you look. "However, recognising that negative attitude to body image in her youth has made Kate determined to give her daughter Mia, 14, a different mind-set. "I stand in front of the mirror and say to Mia, 'We are so lucky we have a shape. We're so lucky we're curvy. We're so lucky we've got good bums,' and she'll say, 'Mummy, I know, thank god'," said Kate.

Kate famously slammed GQ after they airbrushed a shoot starring her in 2003.The then 27-year-old looked noticeably slimmer on the cover of the magazine.

She released a statement about the shoot, saying: "The retouching is excessive. I do not look like that and more importantly, I don't desire to look like that. "She added: "I actually have a Polaroid that the photographer gave me on the day of the shoot... I can tell you they've reduced the size of my legs by about a third. For my money it looks pretty good the way it was taken."
