Up to 1,200 lucky fans will be invited to watch models strutting down the runway in creative director Riccardo Tisci's Spring/Summer 2016 designs. 820 of the limited tickets will be availavle on New York City's marketing office nycgo.com, and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis when they are released on 1 September.

Meanwhile, 280 of the highly-coveted passes have been set aside for students and faculty of major fashion schools including FIT, Parsons, Pratt Institute and the High School for Fashion Industries. The remaining tickets will be distributed to residents living in proximity of the show venue, which has yet to be unveiled.

As well as being the first time that Givenchy will be opening its doors to the public for its highly-anticipated show, this also marks the brand's move to New York Fashion Week – recent years have seen the label showing in Paris.

Riccardo previously opened up about the move, revealing why he had chosen the Big Apple.

Riccardo Tisci revealed he is 'inspired' by America

"It's a very delicate day for America and so the show is going to be a celebration of family and love," he said. "It gives me so much energy, and I'm very inspired by the culture. I feel free when I'm there."

"The fascination for the house with the American market has always been there," added Givenchy's chief executive officer Philippe Fortunato, who also revealed that "Riccardo talks a lot about America as the origins of trends, very much looking at the streets".
