Zayn Malik names a shoe from his Giuseppe Zanotti collection after Gigi Hadid

Forget flowers, Zayn Malik has made the ultimate romantic gesture by naming a pair of boots in his new Giuseppe Zanotti collection after his girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

The Pillowtalk singer released details of the five styles that comprise the collection on Tuesday, with one fittingly named "Zigi" – a nod to the moniker fans gave to him and the model when they started dating in late 2015.

The Zigi is described as "a modern take on the Chelsea boot in black suede with leather details and metallic double side zips", and Gigi is clearly a fan as she has already been spotted wearing the boots on a trip to Tokyo in October.

Other styles include two pairs of trainers and a further two pairs of boots, all featuring a 'Giuseppe for Zayn' embossed plate.

"I really believe style comes from taking chances, being bold and not being afraid to express yourself," Zayn said in a statement. "I feel Giuseppe does that with his collections – and I try to do that with my music. So when the idea came up to collaborate, I thought, 'Yes, this would work.'"

Giuseppe had equally high words of praise for Zayn, saying: "Zayn is a fashion icon, truly. It's who he is, it's not fake. His whole approach is contemporary, an easy coolness with the right amount of modern rebel."

Zayn's limited edition collection for Giuseppe Zanotti launches in January

The limited edition collection will be available at the end of January, just a few weeks before the former One Direction star continues his foray into the fashion world with the launch of his Versus Versace collection.

Zayn and Gigi are proving to be one of fashion's hottest power couples with their respective collaborations; not content with being named International Model of the Year, Gigi also launched her own limited edition collection with Tommy Hilfiger in 2015.
