To celebrate Sex and The City's 20th anniversary, we can't forget one major thing in the show - the opening credits and THAT tutu. As one of the most iconic pieces in Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw's designer-filled wardrobe, you might expect the white tutu she wears in the show's opening credits to have cost a fortune. However the show's costume designer Patricia Field has revealed that it actually cost a bargain $5 (around £3.75) from a showroom bin.

Apparently it took a while to convince the producers to feature the tutu in the opening sequence, but it went on to become such a covetable piece that Patricia created her own version, which still sells on her eponymous website for around £104.

Patricia made the revelation back in 2017 as she spoke about her impressive career with former CFDA director Fern Mallis.

The tutu Carrie Bradshaw wears in Sex and the City only cost around £4

Sex and the City catapulted Patricia Field to fame. Whether it was the fluffy tutu or the flower corsage or even the silk bandanas, Carrie's style was a huge part of the show's success. Talking to Jezebel, the show’s costume designer said: “Wherever I go in this world, you know, people tell me they recognise me. They tell me how much they loved my work. I see a lot of tutus and a lot of tulle skirts on every level from street fashion to designer fashion. I’m happy that people like what I do, and take it into their lives.”

There has been a lot of talk about revisiting Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte in another Sex and the City sequel, but drama ensued between Sarah Jessica and Kim Cattrall. Their feud came to public attention when SJP confirmed that a third Sex and the City film had been cancelled. Although she didn't give a reason, it was largely assumed that Kim had refused to make a third film, leading her to defend herself in an interview on Piers Morgan's Life Stories. She said: "Sarah Jessica, she could have been nicer, she could have in some way. I don't know what her issue is, I never have." She also asked Sarah Jessica to leave her alone after she expressed her condolences following the death of Kim's brother, writing: "My mum asked me today, 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?' Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now."
