The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in Knightsbridge on Thursday to open a new wing at the Victoria & Albert Museum on Thursday. Looking  chic and stylish, the 35-year-old opted for a modern Gucci mini-dress. The ‘grosgrain-trimmed cotton-blend tweed mini-dress’ retailed for £2,300, and was trimmed with red and navy ribbons and made from a cotton-blend tweed. Kate teamed the design with a vibrant red clutch and leg-lengthening black heels.

Beauty-wise, Kate wore her long, glossy brown hair styled in a sophisticated half up-do in long curls that cascaded gently past her shoulders. In terms of make-up, she worked a beautiful smoky eye, with a bold outline of black liner and lashings of mascara. A sweep of rose-hued blush and a subtle pink lip completed her look.

During her visit, Kate visited The Sackler Courtyard – the world's first porcelain tiled public courtyard – where she unveiled a commemorative plaque. The courtyard was paved in 11,000 handmade tiles inspired by the rich tradition of ceramics at the V&A. She then attended a short reception in The Blavatnik Hall to meet guests involved in the project's delivery. Kate was also shown around The Sainsbury Gallery, which is hosting a selection of temporary light and sound installations specifically for the opening.

Last week, Kate enjoyed a day out at the opening of Royal Ascot, looking elegant in a white lace Alexander McQueen dress. The beautiful calf-length design - a bespoke number by the British fashion designer - featured a high neckline and a ribbon-style waistband. She paired the cotton and silk dress with a nude Etui clutch, a pair of £470 neutral-toned suede Gianvito Rossi pumps and the pearl drop earrings borrowed from the Queen.

To complete her race day look, the Duchess chose a custom-made hat adorned with a delicate pearl-studded cream rose. Kate has taken to wearing jewellery borrowed from the queen rather a lot – these particular earrings were given to the Queen by Bahrain as a wedding gift.
