4 SEPTEMBER 2002
Scooby Doo actress Sarah Michelle Gellar and her co-star in the film Freddie Prinze junior tied the knot in a hush hush ceremony atop a Mexican cliff top on Sunday, the starís spokeswomen revealed on Tuesday.

Sarah, 25, who met her 26-year-old husband-to-be five years ago on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer, made her vows in a Vera Wang gown, while the groom wore a bespoke suit in linen. Family and friends were invited to share the happy coupleís nuptials at a secluded estate near the Mexican resort of Puerto Vallarta, the exact location of which was kept a closely guarded secret.

The couple announced their engagement in April last year and earlier this summer rumours abounded that they had wed in a Las Vegas ceremony. In their most recent collaboration, the successful Scooby-Doo vehicle, Sarah stars as sleuth Daphne while her intended plays her clean-cut companion Fred.

Sarah, who first came to fame in the cult TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, has had a series of roles in movies such as Scream 2 and Cruel Intentions.

Rumours had circulated earlier in the summer that the couple had tied the knot in Las Vegas, but their publicist confirmed on Tuesday that the wedding took place in Mexico last Sunday
