BLOOM TO REPLACE KUTCHER IN 'ELIZABETHTOWN'?

13 JANUARY 2004

Orlando Bloom's career continues to blossom as he turns 27 this week. According to Hollywood insiders, the Lord Of The Rings star will be replacing Ashton Kutcher on the new Cameron Crowe movie Elizabethtown.

Ashton's representatives say he was forced to leave the production because of scheduling conflicts. Hollywood's gossip columns are reporting that Tinseltown heavyweight Cameron Crowe wasn't happy with his acting abilities, however.

But whatever the reason for the sudden change of plans, Ashton's loss looks set to be Orlando's gain. The romantic comedy, which is due to start filming in the Spring, will also star Kirsten Dunst.

The ensemble comedy follows the adventures and misadventures of Drew Baylor, who causes the shoe company he works for to lose millions of dollars. After being fired by his understandably unimpressed employers, his girlfriend shows her support – for the company, that is – by dumping him.

And as if all that weren't bad enough, our hero's father demonstrates remarkably unhelpful timing by promptly dying. But as he journeys back to Elizabethtown, where his family is in mourning, Drew discovers a new sense of purpose.
