Sharon Stone brought a ray of Hollywood sunshine to chilly Berlin this week when she jetted into the German city to pick up a gong for her charity work.

Flashing a dazzling smile, the Basic Instinct star - who has been a dedicated fundraiser for AIDS research for more than a decade - proudly held her golden heart award aloft after being presented with it at a charity gala in Germany.

The Casino actress received the honour at a soiree for the A Heart For Children, foundation, which helps underprivileged children around the world.

It caps a year of philanthropic gestures for mum-of-two Sharon which, in November, included the penning of the song Come Together Now for young victims of Hurrican Katrina.

The proceeds go to Habitat Humanity, an organisation which helps needy families build homes. "Every time this song gets played and every time this song gets bought, we're building houses and we're saving these kids," she declared.
