Jennifer on sparkling form at 'Diamond' premiere

1 DECEMBER 2006

Loved-up couple Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany only had eyes for each other as they attended a screening of the actress' latest flick, Blood Diamond on Thursday night.

Accompanied to the event at New York's Museum of Modern Art by her British husband, Jennifer was the picture of relaxed elegance in a cowl-neck forest green number with unusual bandeau-strap detailing.

In the film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Benin-born African actor Djimon Hounsou, the actress plays an American journalist who joins the unlikely duo on their search for an elusive pink diamond.

The movie was shot mainly in Mozambique and the cast have spoken about the challenges of filming in Africa. Leonardo says that "the power of the human spirit" he encountered there has changed his outlook on life. "The fact that these people have been through so much - they have been in a civil war for 30 years - and the poverty rate... but literally people were still dancing in the streets," he explains. "The joy, the energy, the happiness they exuded to everyone was unbelievable."
