Two years after their romantic ocean-side wedding at a Mexican resort, acting couple Ioan Gruffudd and his 37-year-old wife Alice Evans are to begin a family, reports the US media.

The British pair met while filming the 2002 film 102 Dalmations, and went on to base themselves in the States.

Last year the 35-year-old Welsh actor, who stars in the Fantastic Four comic book film series, revealed he had his "eyes on a brood of three".

"Ideally I would love a little daughter born in the same month as Alice," he said. "Because then she would be this strong-headed, fun-loving young thing and it would be great to have two women with that kind of energy in the house."

Ioan first came to the attention of UK viewers as Horatio Hornblower in Hornblower. Recently he portrayed Tony Blair in George Bush bio-pic W.

Next up the gorgeous former Welsh soap opera actor shares the screen with Julia Roberts in Fireflies In The Garden, due out in June.
