With the music world at her feat it is easy to forget that queen of pop Madonna is also a Golden Globe-winning actress.
That combined with her former marriage to director Guy Ritchie, and the 51-year-old probably knows a thing or two about the film industry.
And that is exactly where she has set her sights for her latest venture.
Following a series of roles in films that failed to set the box-office alight, the Give It To Me singer is moving behind the camera to direct, and has also screen written, a new project.
"It's called We, and it’s a love story," revealed the Evita star, now on the path to fund and cast the cinema effort. "It is two parallel love stories told from a woman's point of view, obviously."
"One is a historical story that took place with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. And the other is one I made up about a couple in New York."
For a while now there have been reports detailing the star's interest in the story of Wallis Simpson and her love affair with Prince Edward, who abdicated his throne to marry the American socialite in 1937.
Her publicist Liz Rosenberg said Madonna - who made her directorial debut with Filth and Wisdom last year - was excited about bringing one of the greatest love stories to the silver screen.
