There's nothing better for getting in the Christmas mood for than a bit of ice skating. And Kate Beckinsale and her family certainly looked like they were enjoying themselves on the ice this week.
The beautiful actress, her director husband Len Wiseman and Lily – her ten-year-old daughter with actor Michael Sheen – joined fellow skaters at an outdoor rink in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.
And while Lily took to it like a natural, gliding effortlessly across the ice, Len seemed a little more wobbly on his feet.
Luckily Kate was by his side, though, and the 36-year-old was happy to guide him round, holding his hand all the while.
London-born Kate, who now lives full time in LA, has been busy promoting her new film Everybody's Fine.
The movie, which tells the tale of a widower who takes a road trip with his grown-up children, is a special project as it marks Lily's big screen debut.
She plays a younger version of Kate's character, but the actress thinks the experience may dampen her enthusiasm for her mum's profession.
"Maybe it'll put her off - all the hanging about and bits being cut out of the movie,' she said.
"I really don't think she actually wants to become an actress so I may be in a fool's paradise, I did say the same thing when I was a little girl!"
Kate insists her daughter didn't get any special treatment because of her family connection.
"The producers harassed me for a long time saying, 'can she audition?' And I said no because she would probably be on the set anyway, if she auditions and doesn't get it then she's going to feel horrible," she explained.
"Eventually she got wind of it and asked if she could and she got it fair and square."
