Jennifer Garner takes toddler son Samuel out for lunch in LA

Jennifer Garner took her and Ben Affleck's adorable toddler son Samuel for lunch in LA on Tuesday. The 40-year-old actress worked her signature daytime casual look in navy blue trousers, a white crew neck jumper and snakeskin pumps.

Samuel, who recently turned one, sat happily on his mum's hip wearing a cosy nautical striped ensemble. They ate lunch at the Napa Valley Grille in the Westwood neighbourhood of LA.

The mum-of-three has spent lots of quality time with her brood since the end of the awards season which saw her husband's blockbuster Argo scoop numerous gongs on both sides of the Atlantic.

Family is clearly fundamental to Ben and Jennifer, who secretly married in June 2005 after meeting on the set of action thriller film Daredevil. Samuel is baby brother to seven-year-old Violet and four-year-old Seraphina.

When actor-turned-director Ben accepted his Oscar for Best Picture for Argo at the 85th Academy Awards, he dedicated it his three children. He also thanked his proud wife of eight years and said of their marriage, "It's the best kind of work and there is nobody else I would rather do that kind of work with."

Ben's family were also on hand with grooming advice and encouraged him to get rid of the beard that he had sported for the awards season.

"She and the kids did not like the beard," he said. "It has an exposed wire vibe. It was hated in my home."

Ben shaved the beard off with clippers at a private Oscars afterparty in a restaurant. Jennifer was so keen to see him shave that she "actually brought the clippers to the party," according to a source.
