Australian Hugh Jackman is a known actor, singer, performer, and producer, who is known for his wide-ranging roles in Hollywood and on the stage.

Hugh first came to prominence in Britain in 1998 when he was nominated for an Olivier Award for Oklahoma! He had previously been offered a role in Australian soap Neighbours but turned it down to attend college.

After Oklahoma!, for which Hugh has said: "On some level that production will be one of the highlights of my career", he was approached by Hollywood director Bryan Singer to star in an adaptation of the X-Men comics.

Hugh would go on to become one of the franchise's most popular actors, starring in many of the sequels and the spin-off, Wolverine.

In 2004 Hugh won two major awards; his first Tony award for his role in the Broadway play, The Boy From Oz, and the Emmy award for Outstanding Individual Performer in a Variety, Musical or Comedy program for his role hosting the Emmy Awards the previous year.

For his role in the big screen adaptation of Les Miserables, Hugh garnered his first Academy Award nomination and won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

In his personal life Hugh is an advisor for the Global Poverty Project, and uses his social media accunts to raise money for various charities.

In 2013, he revealed he had basal-cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer, removed from his nose, and in May 2014 he admitted he had a second carcinoma removed as well.

Hugh has been married to Deborra-Lee Furness since 1996.
