Sigourney Weaver is the mysterious villain in the brand new trailer for Netflix's upcoming show, The Defenders. The show will see the heroes of four incredibly popular Marvel shows – Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage - join forces to fight crime. Sigourney appears in the trailer as Alexandra, who the showrunner Marco Ramirez has described as "a very powerful force in New York City".
He added that her character had to be "something massive to pull these four [hero] characters from their individual worlds to work together, but also small enough that it felt like it existed in our world". The series will take place a few months following the events of Daredevil season two and just one month after the Iron Fist finale. The official synopsis read: "Marvel's The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal - to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realise they just might be stronger when teamed together."
