Following last night's emotional-filled drama, the judges came together again in Newcastle for the last room auditions in tonight's episode of the X Factor. First to enter the room was shoe shop assistant, Kerriane Covell, who admitted that she was skipping work to audition with Adele's One and Only. "Wow, you can sing… I think you've got a really good voice," congratulated Simon Cowell. The powerful performance impressed the judges so much that the music mogul ended up calling Kerriane's boss to explain the 23-year-old's absence and begged him not to fire the singer, who later received four yes votes.

Later in the morning, 15-year-old Stevie Tennet walked into the room to sing James Morrison's I Won't Let You Go. However, the student's age caused controversy as Cheryl Cole argued that this year's younger age limit adds too much pressure for teenagers. As the singer sang, he impressed the judges so much that Cheryl apologised saying that she needed to "eat her words," as his audition shocked the Girls Aloud singer and ultimately saw him receive four yeses. Throughout the day, many hopefuls perform original songs much to the judges' dismay, including Starlight. Real name Annarita, the performer gave an unusual performance of an original track called Discipline and was sent away from the room but snuck back in the room to sing again for the unimpressed judges. Next in the room was 31-year-old Raign, who bragged about her fans and number 17 position in Russia. The London singer opted to sing Zedd’s Clarity but failed to win over Cheryl and Simon. "It’s a lot to do with what you say in the room…she’s not likeable at all," complained Cheryl following saying "no" to the songwriter. The persistent performer re-entered the room to perform her own song Don’t Let Me Go which made Simon reconsider his decision and send her through the live auditions, much to Cheryl's annoyance. Dublin-born Janet Gorgan later impressed the panel of judges with Bonnie Raiit's I Can’t Make You Love Me while 15-year-old Emily Middlemas wowed with a cover of former X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd’s Want U Back.

Next in the room was Lizzie Pattinson, sister of Twilight star Robert Pattinson.

"You look familiar, have we met before?" asked Simon but the singer kept quiet about her family affiliations. The singer's performance impressed the judging panel and the blonde beauty was sent through the next round of auditions. Later that day, chip shop worker, Michael Rice left the judges speechless with his epic performance of Whitney Houston's I Look To You."You’re like a little diva," joked Cheryl as they congratulated the Hartlepool teenager and gave him a well-deserved four yes votes.

After a mixed day of performances, fitness instructor Kayleigh Manners was a breath of fresh air for Mel B who came from the same hometown as the Spice Girls performer.

The timid singer sang Sam Smith's Stay With Me and impressed the judges, seeing the contestant go through to the live auditions.

"I think we've just tapped the surface with you," claimed Simon before the panel of judges asked her to return to the live auditions.

Finally, Jake Quickenden returned to the series after being sent home from Nicole's Judges' Houses in 2012. The 25-year-old opted to sing John Legend's All Of Me but was stopped mid performance as Mel B pointed out that Jake's nerves were affecting the performance. After a disappointing start, Simon then asked the singer to perform A Great Big World’s Say Something. "I think you deserve this opportunity so this is four easy yeses," praised Simon as they commended the hopeful for his courage and ability to take criticism.

Tune in next Saturday for the first round of live auditions at 8pm on ITV.
