How can you feel sure that you are making progress when so little seems to have changed? But real progress rarely requires us to dwell in the realm of the different. More often than not, a minor adjustment to a plan or a gentle tweak to an approach proves sufficient to produce substantial and satisfying change. Susanna Reid has always known she wanted to be a journalist, becoming editor of Epigram, the student newspaper of the University of Bristol in the early 1990s, and later studying for a journalism postgraduate degree in Cardiff.

The 43-year-old gained her first job for BBC Radio Bristol and later joined BBC News 24. One night, the 11pm presenter did not show for their job, and so Susanna found herself a news presenter for the first time.

This soon became a permanent position and after several years, Susanna moved to BBC Breakfast - by 2012 Susanna had become a flagship presenter and was hugely popular with British audiences.

In 2013, Susanna also became a fixture on Saturday night TV, taking part in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. She was a surprise hit, and made it to the final eventually coming in second place.

After nearly 20 years at the BBC, Susanna made the jump to ITV in 2014 to front breakfast programme Good Morning Britain.

She has also in recent months opened up on a breast cancer scare, revealing that she was terrified to find a lump on her breast and would encourage woman to have regular cancer checks.

Susanna has three children, but split from her husband of 16 years, Dominic Cotton earlier in 2014. She has admitted, however, that the pair still live together and are committed to co-parenting their sons.
